Wildfires predominantly occur in the Wildland Urban Interface (“WUI”) which is a geographic location where structures and flammable vegetation merge in a wildfire-prone environment, resulting in fires devastating to both lives and properties. Wild land Urban Interface areas include all structures either built or being built in low to highly forested areas or low to highly vegetated areas including high density housing areas.

The Firefree Exterior System has two components.

1. Firefree Class A (“FfA”) to provide fire retardant protection per ASTM E 84 30 Minute Extended. FfA needs to be applied at 20 mils dry, and then be covered as follows.

2. Firefree Exterior Topcoat (“FfE”) to protect the fire retardant properties of FfA from exterior weathering. FfE needs to be applied over FfA at 6 mils dry.

FfA characteristics. FfA is a high performance fire coating fully tested to comply with building code requirements and meet all ASTM E84 requirements, including the ASTM E84 30 Minutes Extended.

FfE Characteristics.
FfE is a premium, 100% acrylic paint. FfE on its own does not have fire retardant properties, but its application on surfaces coated with FfA or Ff88 will allow use of such products in exterior applications, if used in strict compliance with Firefree’s recommendations. It is environmentally friendly and has a high quality exterior satin finish, with excellent moisture and UV resistance, as well as great adhesion and color retention.

FfE on its own does not have any fire retardant properties. In addition to protecting FfA, FfE will provide both an exterior stain-resistant prime coat and a durable white, satin finish. If a different color or finish is desired, FfE can be top coated with most premium paints to achieve the desired color and finish. For large orders (>200 gallons) FfE can be tinted by Firefree.
